Training and Skills Development
The successful implementation of an Asset Management program is based on the knowledge, skills and experience of its management and staff. The challenge for any organisation is to keep its people up to date in the skills of asset management.

Some organisations forget that over a period of time a great deal of knowledge, skill and expertise is actually created and invested in its own staff. By example a $50,000 pa employee over 10 years represents an approx. investment of $1m with on-costs and overheads. This knowledge investment should not "walk out the door" and be lost nor should it become out of date and loose its value.

To retain and enhance this knowledge investment the smart organisations are investing in the "Skills Passport". The passport approach has proved successful as it provides a framework for training and skills enhancement that can utilise both fully accredited external courses as well as on the job competency based training from your own experienced staff. The "passport" can be linked to an enterprise agreement and is a tailored approach to skill development and training in your organisation.
